Funimation announced that it will shut down on April 2, following the official announcement of its merger with Crunchyroll in 2022. Is there a Crunchyroll price increase in 2024 after the Funimation merge?
As of writing, there is no Crunchyroll price increase for 2024.
Funimation customers and current Crunchyroll subscribers might be confused about whether there is a price increase or not. According to a service update from Funimation, the price for a new Crunchyroll plan will increase from $54.95 a year to $99.99 a year starting January 28, 2025. This is for Funimation subscribers who were grandfathered in with the old yearly prices, which were around $7.99 to $9.99 a month. Current Crunchyroll subscribers are unaffected.
Those with existing Funimation subscriptions will have their subscriptions moved to Crunchyroll. With that, the fees for your next billing cycle through Crunchyroll will follow Crunchyroll’s pricing. If you have a Funimation subscription but a free Crunchyroll account, your Funimation subscription will move to Crunchyroll as well.

How much is Crunchyroll monthly in 2024?
A Crunchyroll Premium account has three different subscription plans for your choosing. Here are the plans:
- Fan ($7.99/month): no ads, simulcast episodes, can stream on 1 device at a time
- Mega Fan ($9.99/month): no ads, simulcast episodes, can stream up to 4 devices, offline viewing, and more
- Ultimate Fan ($14.99/month): no ads, simulcast episodes, can stream up to 6 devices, offline viewing, and more
Depending on the subscription plan, you would be paying either $95.88, $119.88, or $179.88 yearly for Crunchyroll.
