The basketball newbie only joined forces with NorthPort in 2023, following his controversial stint at the Jose Rizal University. John Amores involved in shooting incident, claims report
The unfortunate event occurred during a basketball game in Barangay Salac, which was attended by Amores, as well as his brother. As the play went on, Amores was seen getting involved in a heated argument with a fellow audience member. The duo was initially separated, only for them to cross paths later at Barangay Maytalang. During their second altercation, John Amores reportedly fired his gun at the victim, eventually leading to his arrest.
The incident was captured on CCTV, resulting in a widespread uproar against Amores. As such, his inbox was flooded with death threats, as per Inquirer Sports. To ensure their safety, the indicted siblings surrendered to the local police. John Amores and his brother voluntarily got themselves arrested by reporting to RTC Sta. Cruz, Laguna, on Thursday afternoon.
Police Major Bob Louis Ordiz confirmed the story in a later statement provided to the press. “He voluntarily surrendered to our station because of the threats to their lives, both of them,” the police official said. “That’s what they decided on since they were scared for their safety.”
Due to their involvement in the violent act, the basketball player and his sibling are currently facing attempted murder charges. Despite his arrest, Northport has yet to provide an official statement regarding their stance on John Amores.
