Oasis fans may soon face disappointment as the band’s promoters move to cancel over 50,000 tickets bought through resale sites. This decision has left many wondering if their tickets will be valid when the reunion tour kicks off. Further, they are concerned about the reason behind the cancellation. So, here are the details.
Ticketmaster to cancel Oasis tickets sold on secondary sites
Oasis is set to face backlash as the band prepares to cancel thousands of tickets sold on secondary markets ahead of their reunion tour.
Promoters Live Nation and SJM have revealed to BBC File on 4 that they will be canceling over 50,000 tickets for Oasis’ U.K. tour that were not purchased through official sellers. These canceled tickets will be re-released via Ticketmaster at their original price.
The official statement from Live Nation’s spokesperson reads, “These terms and conditions were successfully put in place to take action against secondary ticketing companies reselling tickets for huge profit. Only four percent of tickets have ended up on resale sites.”
While 1.4 million tickets were made available earlier this year, demand surged dramatically, resulting in many tickets being quickly listed on unauthorized websites at significantly higher prices. To address this issue, fans were directed to purchase tickets exclusively through Ticketmaster or their authorized resale partner, Twickets.
According to Live Nation and SJM, around 4% of tickets, roughly 50,000, were found on secondary platforms. The cancellation process is expected to take place soon. Fans who believe their tickets were wrongly invalidated can contact the relevant ticket agents to seek resolution. Ticketmaster reportedly identified and prevented 250 million suspicious or fradulent actions on the day tickets for the Oasis tour went live. Live Nation and SJM affirmed their commitment to monitoring secondary sites and promised to report findings to law enforcement when necessary.
