Following the recent release of Gladiator II in theaters, fans of the film are curious about the possibility of a Gladiator 3. Is there a Gladiator 3 release date?
Gladiator 3 does not have an official release date, but it will likely be announced in the future. Paramount Pictures has not yet officially confirmed the film.
However, director Ridley Scott revealed in an interview with Premiere, that he was considering making a third film and had been playing with the idea. “I’m already toying with the idea of Gladiator 3,” he said. No, seriously! I’ve lit the fuse…The ending of Gladiator II is reminiscent of The Godfather, with Michael Corleone finding himself with a job he didn’t want, and wondering, ‘Now, Father, what do I do?’ So the next [film] will be about a man who doesn’t want to be where he is.” (via Variety)
Later, in an interview with Total Film, Ridley Scott mentioned that he had already written eight pages of Gladiator 3. “If there’s a Gladiator 3, I don’t think you’d ever go back into the arena,” he added. “But I had to go back into the arena…”
Moreover, Gladiator II lead Paul Mescal has also expressed his interest in reprising his role of Lucius Verus for Gladiator 3 in an interview with Variety. He also expressed his belief that the film would not take “24 years” to make, (a reference to the gap between 2000’s Gladiator and Gladiator II), but admitted not knowing when it would release.
