Taylor Swift ranks 2nd on Billboard’s Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century list
The Billboard list, which aims to honor “the artists who have most defined pop stardom for the last 25 years,” unveiled Taylor Swift in second position in a recently released article.
In-house author Hannah Dailey provided more insight into the decision by stating that the 14-time Grammy winner has been “able to forcefully, gravitationally bend culture to her will and become one of the world’s biggest undisputed pop stars, despite her eight-year late start in country music,” all the while “honoring all the traits that made her different.”
The Billboard representative also acknowledged Taylor Swift’s popularity by addressing the possible backlash they might face for not ranking the singer first. Dailey stated, “The fact that controversy will likely tear through the internet over her being just one small space below No. 1 is just another testament to her power, but regardless, her placement shouldn’t leave Swifties upset for too long.”
Taylor Swift’s placement in the second spot has left the public wondering who Billboard intends to name as their greatest pop star. Many have theorized that Beyoncé could be the one who secures the coveted position as the singer has yet to appear on the list. Interested fans can expect Billboard to disclose the No.1 spot in the coming days.
