Alisyn Camerota announces exit from CNN after 10 years
Alisyn Camerota first announced her exit from CNN on Instagram before the broadcast of her final appearance on the network. She shared a picture of herself from behind the desk, telling viewers to tune in at 4:50 p.m. ET for her sign-off.
She later elaborated more on her departure from the network before beginning her final show. “This is my last day on air at CNN. I’ve had such incredible opportunities here these past ten-plus years,” she said. “I’ve interviewed presidents and heroes and extraordinary people. The kind of peak career experiences that I had dreamed of since I was a teenager.”
Camerota then claimed the CNN journalists were “the very best” in the news industry. She added that it was an “honor” to have worked with them and to have been at their homes for the past ten years “through some of the biggest stories of our lifetimes.”
“I’m always touched when a viewer comes up and tells me that I helped them get through these challenging times. So I look forward to doing much more of that with you,” Camerota added. She also asked viewers to update themselves with her status in the near future via her Instagram.
Alisyn Camerota then thanked her colleagues for the time she had spent on the network. She also thanked them for teaching her the “power of journalism,” and for giving her a “deeply rewarding” time.
Following this, CNN reporter Wolf Blitzer told Alisyn that they would miss her. He also called her a “good friend, colleague, and outstanding journalist.” Camerota did not offer an exact reason as to why she was leaving CNN.
