MobLand: What Happens to Eddie & Why Did He Try to Kill [Spoiler]?

In MobLand‘s finale, Eddie discovers his father’s true identity, sparking a violent confrontation with Bella Harrigan. The revelation comes after Maeve’s calculated gambit, pitching Eddie on a revolutionary Harrigan dynasty where she would reign as queen and he as king.

However, family secrets can unravel even the most ambitious power plays, and Eddie’s “child’s play” of vengeance could cost him the crown he intended to claim in the future.

Does Eddie die in MobLand’s finale?

No, Eddie does not die in MobLand’s finale. After the young Harrigan hears from Maeve that Kevin is not his father, he plans to take revenge on his mother, Bella Harrigan. Earlier in the series, viewers received a clue that Eddie is Conrad and Bella’s child.

But with Maeve’s strategic exposé, Eddie gains a newfound fervor to take over the Harrigan empire and would not hesitate to remove any obstacle in his way.

Why did Eddie try to kill Bella in MobLand?

Eddie’s impulsive attempt to kill Bella Harrigan reveals that he has been a puppet to Maeve’s instructions. From the beginning of the Eddie-Bella scene, viewers understood that something ominous might happen.

While embracing Bella in a hug, Eddie tries to strangle her while issuing a threat that nobody gets to lie to him. At this point, it is evident that Maeve is the only one who fuels Eddie’s impulsive traits. In Kevin’s words, Conrad’s wife wants Eddie to be a “monster” to “protect her.”

So, it is entirely possible that Eddie wanted to kill Bella to ensure that Maeve’s plan stayed on track. He believed that he could become the kingpin of the Harrigan empire, dethroning Conrad (his father) and Kevin (his other brother).

Viewers also speculate that Maeve’s creepy tendencies toward Eddie could hint at something more sinister. Since the two are not blood-related, the matriarch of the Harrigan family might see Eddie as a “young Conrad.”

One fan theorized on Reddit, “I think Maeve has been grooming him in more ways than one. She said that weird line about him being king and her being queen, and told him about how they are not blood related. I wouldn’t put it past Maeve to have traumatized him when he was 12.”

Another follower added, “Bella mentions to Gina that something happened to Eddie when he was 12. Could Maeve have done more than just manipulate him? He seems so psychologically broken.”

With MobLand’s rumored season two renewal, Eddie’s arc might take center stage. Viewers already know that Maeve is not competent in her plotting. Hence, Eddie might have to ally with his official father, Kevin Harrigan, for the upcoming power struggles.
