What Happened to Conner Smith? Accident & Show Cancelation Explained

Country singer Conner Smith, who was scheduled to perform at a Military Appreciation Concert in Akron at the Firestone Country Club, recently pulled his name out of the event in the wake of an accident. Accordingly, fans are wondering why Smith canceled his show. They are also wondering if the accident had any role to play in the cancelation of his show.

Here is Conner Smith’s cancelation of his show and the accident factoring into it, explained.

Conner Smith cancels shows after accident

Conner Smith canceled his scheduled performance at the Military Appreciation Concert in Akron at the Firestone Country Club following a car accident. This accident took place one week before the cancellation.

As detailed in a press release from the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County, published on June 9, the 24-year-old artist was named as the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that killed 77-year-old pedestrian Dorothy Dobbins on 3rd Avenue North near Van Buren Street. Preliminary investigations reveal that Smith had been driving north on 3rd Avenue North while Dobbins was crossing the roadway. Dobbins had reportedly been inside a marked crosswalk at the time she was struck — which was 7:30 p.m.

After being struck, Dobbins was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center but succumbed to her injuries.

The press release states that Smith “failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian” was the “preliminary contributing factor” to the accident. It also mentioned that Smith did not display any signs of impairment.

Talent agency William Morris Endeavor has released a statement addressing Smith’s show cancellation:

“As Conner Smith takes time to privately process recent events, he will unfortunately not be performing in Akron on June 20,” the statement read. “We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this difficult time.” (via WKYC)

Smith was also planning to perform at the Buckeye Country Superfest this weekend. However, he has pulled out of this event as well. The official X (Twitter) page of the event revealed that Vincent Mason will stand in for Smith.

Conner Smith is currently slated to tour across the United States this summer, as per his official website. However, it remains to be seen whether his tour will be impacted by the recent accident.
