Highest 2 Lowest, director Spike Lee’s highly anticipated reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s 1960s classic High and Low, released today in theaters and it is already raising questions like when the film will be available to watch online and if there is a post-credit or mid-credit scene at the end of the movie.
Here’s what we know about it.
Does Highest 2 Lowest have an end, mid or post-credits scene?
While post-credits and mid-credits scenes are becoming increasingly common in a variety of genres, Highest 2 Lowest doesn’t seem to include any such scenes.
Despite their popularity in recent years, post-credit scenes, especially ones that add to narratives, are mainly reserved for franchise movies with possibilities of sequels or spinoffs. Highest 2 Lowest is from filmmaker Spike Lee and should not be considered a franchise movie. Hence, it does not have a post-credit scene that adds to the narrative of the film or teases anything beyond this standalone film. Some movies also showcase BTS scenes or bloopers reel as part of their mid or post-credits scene to give viewers a glimpse of the filmmaking process. But that doesn’t seem to be the case either with this film, as no scene appears after the credits roll, and people can leave as soon as the movie ends without the fear of missing anything.
The Denzel Washington-led 2025 movie is a modern-day reimagining of the 1963 Japanese film High and Low. The original movie is widely considered one of the greatest works of cinema by Akira Kurosawa. It deals with a ransom plot while dealing with moral dilemmas and ethical questions. Even now, High and Low is considered a landmark piece of work.
Other than Washington, it stars Ilfenesh Hadera, Jeffrey Wright, ASAP Rocky, and Ice Spice. Notably, Lee and Washington have worked together multiple times in the past as well.
Highest 2 Lowest was released in theaters in a limited capacity in the United States on August 15, 2025. Following this, the film is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ on September 5, 2025.
