Young & Restless’ Matt Cohen on Why Burrow Is Under Mitch’s Control

Detective Burrow arrived on The Young and the Restless as a straight-laced investigator, but with Mitch’s story developing, the same can not be said anymore. To this, the character’s actor, Matt Cohen, revealed that there is more to Burrow’s choices than a simple turn to corruption. Cohen also teased that with every rising complication, viewers should start expecting even more surprises. The plot is also throwing light on Mitch Bacall, who is secretly Matt Clark.

Matt Cohen says some things are ‘unfolding’ with Burrow on The Young and the Restless

Matt Cohen has revealed that Burrow’s involvement with Mitch on The Young and the Restless does not mean that he is a sellout.

The actor explained, “There’s some things unfolding literally as we speak. There is a reason, obviously, that Burrow’s gotta be doing what he’s doing. Maybe being a detective doesn’t pay enough, and it’s as simple a reason as that? But I highly doubt in soap land that it’s as simple a reason as that, if you know what I’m saying. Be suspicious.” (via Soap Opera Digest)

Also, Cohen is happy to play a character like Burrow, who is edging towards the dark side. Cohen said, “You know what’s crazy? I don’t know what it says about me, but it’s the easiest character I’ve played in a long time. Burrow, he’s into some stuff, and I just feel like that’s kind of what life dishes you out — in life, you’re kind of dealt a hand, and you gotta figure it out, no matter what it is. And Burrow is very much getting dealt a hand. And it’s fun.”

Cohen also appreciated the writing on The Young and the Restless for Burrow and Mitch. He credits the script for having him clear beats to play. He claims that the writers have “got a grasp on the character.” Even though this role is more morally complicated than his previous role as Dr. Griffin Munroe on General Hospital, he loves it.
