Pluribus TV Show Teases Major Mystery About Missing Animals

Vince Gilligan’s latest Apple TV series, Pluribus, has already established one of the most exciting premises in recent years, but one major question has lingered since the start. Despite everything shown in the series so far, there has been no clarity about where the animals are. Even with several mentions, it remains a mystery what happened to the animals after “the Joining.”

What happened to the animals in Pluribus?

One of the major questions in the Pluribus universe is what happened to the animals. The show has explained that the majority of humans have formed a collective hive mind. But what about all the animals? Did they join the hive mind too?

The show has not confirmed this, but it has hinted that no animals remain. Rhea Seahorn’s Carol has not encountered a single stray in her journey so far. One theory is that animals may have joined humans in the transformation, but there is very little information to support this idea.

Xiu Mei reveals at the summit that the Joined humans were the ones who emptied the zoos. This could hint that the animals returned to their natural habitats, slowly restoring the natural order that was disrupted by humans. This should still mean that some animals or birds could appear in the cities. However, there have been no sightings yet.

Moreover, the Joined humans reveal that killing animals is not part of their nature.

Many theories on Reddit also suggest that the animals are not a part of the hive mind. This could mean either of two things. Some animals could be immune, like some humans, or that all the animals are still out there, just not in the frame yet.

It will be some time before Pluribus solves this fascinating animal mystery.

The first four episodes of Pluribus are now streaming on Apple TV+.
