MrBeast Has Already Answered Whether Beast Games Is Scripted

Since the first season, many viewers have wondered if Beast Games is scripted or unscripted. Given the nature of the show and how dramatized it feels, viewers were doubtful of its authenticity. But at the beginning of last year, MrBeast had already put that speculation to rest.

Is Beast Games scripted or unscripted?

Beast Games is a reality game show created by the popular YouTuber MrBeast, whose real name is James “Jimmy” Stephen Donaldson. In 2024, the YouTuber collaborated with Amazon to create the game show, which airs exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The show offers more than 1,000 participants the opportunity to win the $5 million cash prize.

Season 1 debuted on Dec 19, 2024, and found immediate success. Near the end of the show, MrBeast doubled the cash prize to $10 million. In a dramatic finale, which aired on February 13, 2025, Jeffrey Randall Allen went home with the ultimate prize.

While the show continued to air, many skeptics believed that the show was not legitimate and that it was all scripted. However, there is no evidence to support that claim. One of the major reasons why it would feel that way would be due to the editing choices. Just like most reality TV shows, Beast Games is also heavily edited for dramatization. Instead of showcasing all of its participants, the show follows certain contestants to shape a cohesive narrative.

A few weeks after Season 1 premiered, MrBeast indirectly addressed the speculation with a Facebook post on January 4, 2025. The post stated, “Beast Games is officially the #1 unscripted series launch in Prime Video history!” To further support this claim, several outlets reported that the show had garnered more than 50 million views in the first 25 days of its premiere (via Variety).

Currently, the show is airing its second season. This time around, MrBeast divided the 1,000 participants into an equal team of the strongest people vs the smartest people. In the latest episode, he collaborated with CBS’s Survivor host Jeff Probst to give away a $1.8 million island.
