The new mystery thriller series Vanished stars Kaley Cuoco, Sam Claflin, Matthias Schweighöfer, and Simon Abkarian. The final episode wraps up the human trafficking storyline. However, it leaves major questions about Alice and Tom’s future.
What happens in Vanished’s ending
In the finale of Vanished, Alice Monroe, played Kaley Cuoco, and Helene Lando, played by Karin Viard. They discover a container filled with trafficked women and children. Before they can help, mercenaries name Saeed capture them and tie them up inside a warehouse.
Tom Parker, played by Sam Claflin, enters the room with Alex and Mira. While Alex wants Alice dead, Parker helps her. He gives her a syringe and tells her to use it on Saeed, the mercenary ordered to kill her.
When Saeed attacks, Alice stabs his eyes with the syringe, fights him off and escapes. She promises Helene she will come back. Alice runs to the police and meets Inspector Drax, played by Simon Abkarian.
At first, he does not believe her. When they check the warehouse, the victims are gone. Still, Alice finds proof and pushes him to investigate more. Later, Drax confirms he is not involved with the criminals.
The final fight happens at a factory connected to the trafficking ring. Saeed captures Alice again, and Alex tells him to kill her. Tom shoots Saeed and reveals the truth he has worked undercover for Interpol for three years.
He joined the group to destroy the trafficking network from the inside. A shootout begins. Helene tries to shoot Alex but gets hurt. Tom fights Alex, and when Alex almost wins, Alice stabs him from behind and hits him with a hammer.
Inspector Drax arrives and shoots Mira before she can harm Alice. Police arrest the criminals and rescue the victims. Tom tells Alice he lied only to protect his mission. He says he loves her and wants a future together. Alice agrees to try again at least for the moment.
Do Alice and Tom end up together in Vanished?
At first, it looks like they will. They reconnect and spend the night together. But the next morning, Alice leaves without telling Tom. She writes him a note and decides to go home alone.
She still loves him, but she cannot trust him after all the lies. She knows she cannot build a safe life with someone who kept such a big secret. In the end, Alice chooses herself. Tom stays behind to deal with the aftermath of the operation.
