Sullivan Loads Up on Maniacs

Eyeing 2008 release

The road to getting 2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillys off the ground has been a circuitous one for Tim Sullivan. But from what Fangoria is reporting today, the “Maniacs” may rise again in 2008…this time with a few familiar faces.

“Tony Todd [Candyman] is playing a character called Jim Crow, who is the archetype of the slavery element of Pleasant Valley,” the director tells Fango’s Calum Waddell. “He has a very strong presence in the sequel. Bill Moseley [The Devil’s Rejects] will also be on board as a character called Doc Tickles.” Robert Englund, Lin Shaye, Christa Campbell are all expected to return with newcomers to the franchise Ashley and Courtney Peldon and Talan Torriero (Driftwood).

Since the first film, released by Lionsgate last year, Sullivan has obtain the rights to the “Maniacs” property to ensure his sequel (co-penned by Chris Kobin) is handled right. For more, click on the Fango link above!

The DVD for 2001 Maniacs is up for a Saturn Award tonight, coincidentally. Shock will be there for the ceremony so keep your eyes peeled here for a list of all of the winners!
