Scream‘s Williamson to adapt
Kevin Williamson (Scream) and Kyle XY‘s Julie Plec have written a pilot for the CW’s Vampire Diaries. The network is seeking to adapt the young adult novels by L.J. Smith into a series for the fall 2009 slate. WBTV and Alloy will produce. None of this is at all surprising given the success of Twilight and the fact that there is renewed interest in Diaries. The premise of the series follows Elena Gilbert, a young woman caught between quarreling vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon. Smith published four “Vampire Diaries” books. A fifth installment hits bookstores next week.
