Why?
You see, Max Landis, who penned Chronicle, is John’s son. (Sorry, had to clarify for those not keeping up with the Landis clan.) Here’s is what John had to say…
He wrote a sequel, and its amazing, and the studio read it and said, We want Chronicle again! And he said, No, this is the sequel, its the evolution, and they said No, we want that movie again! So its difficult, were dealing with a difficult business.”
That is somewhat disappointing to hear. When ShockTillYouDrop.com attended a Chronicle press event, the producers sounded thrilled to hear that Landis and director Joshua Trank had mapped out enough story for three films.
Months ago, Max had this to say about the sequel’s progress: “The movie you saw [Chronicle] in the sequel, is a thing. That edited footage is a thing. So its not like we found this footage after these kids died. You cant deny cars being thrown in the air in Seattle. You saw all those helicopters. The world changed. Thats the end of Chronicle. And things are going to be different now. They cant possibly cover up what happened.”
