Penny Dreadful Renewed for Third Season

Are you paying attention to Penny Dreadful? Its second season is achieving the promise of the first. Bloodier, altogether more striking and far more voluptuous, the Victorian-era horror series is one of the best on TV and its feast-for-the-eyes nature will stride right on into season three.

“We’re thrilled to announce that our critically-acclaimed, BAFTA-winning drama series Penny Dreadful will return for a third season!” Showtime revealed this week. The second season, which has largely, stunningly focused on Vanessa Ives (the tremendous Eva Green) in the sights of a London coven is beginning to wind down, so fans will be elated to learn Season Three will in fact get underway and premiere in 2016.

Penny Dreadful created, written and executive produced by John Logan. Season Two has seen awesome directorial work and boasts a killer look (the opening suicide reveal in “Glorious Horrors” a terrific piece of composition, for example), most especially in the Cut-wife cottage installments.
