Shudder’s February lineup is solid and scary
AMC’s increasingly awesome horror movie streaming channel Shudder just announced some of its February highlights and there are some genuine, cannot miss gems in the mix.
Among the ghoulish gold programmed by Shudder Canada’s team of Sam Zimmerman and Colin Geddes is (premiering February 23rd) Andy Mitton and Jesse Holland’s opus We Go On, a strange, beautiful and cerebral ghost story that you won’t be able to shake.
Synopsis: Paralyzed by is fear of dying, Miles Grissom (Clark Freeman) offers reward money to the first person who can show him a supernatural being – anything to prove that we go on after our deaths. He narrows the responses down to three viable candidates – a scientist, a medium, and a worldly entrepreneur. Along with his protective mother, he embarks on an adventure through Los Angeles that spirals into an unthinkable nightmare.
Also on tap for February is Joyce A. Nashawat’s Blind Sun (February 9th), another festival fave that is worth your time and is a movie filled with a inimitable European atmosphere and an unyielding sense of dread.
Synopsis: During a scorching Greek summer, a stranded foreigner finds himself in a bureaucratic purgatory as he tries to retrieve his residence permit, while the crushing heat threatens to send him over the edge into paranoia and madness.
Also playing next month on Shudder is the masterful erotic and darkly funny ghost story film Nina Forever which premieres on February 8th as does revered horror anthology The ABC’s of Death and its even sicker sequel, The ABC’s of Death 2.
Lucky McKee’s underrated slasher satire All Cheerleaders Die (February 8th) is also playing as well as the Billy Zane vehicle Evil in the Time of Heroes (February 21st) and the final Phantasm film Phantasm: Ravager (February 14th), which we totally hated but many love.
