In the past few years, Mirzapur has been marked as one of the most promising web series for mafia enthusiasts. After getting a massive response in its previous season, makers are gearing up for the premiering of its next sequel.
Directed by Karan Anshuman, along with Gurmeet Singh and Mihit, the series is produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment.
The previous seasons of Mirzapur were full of violence, drama, and crime. For those unaware, Pankaj Tripathi played the role of Akhandanand Tripathi, along with Ali Faizal as Guddu Pandit and Divyendu as Munna Tripathi in the centric role. Besides this, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, and Shriya Pilgaonkar have also played pivotal roles in the fan-favorite series.
The story revolves around the throne of Mirzapur, a city in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. Akhandanand Tripathi, also known as Kaleen Bhaiya, is the most dominant mafia don in the whole region.
The series was mostly filmed across Uttar Pradesh, especially in the regions of Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Rae Bareli, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi.
The first season of this series was released on November 16, 2018. Soon after its premiere, the series received a mixed response from the audience and the critics. After this, the second season was released on October 23, 2020, and got a similar response.
Additionally, many consider that the Mirzapur series is also one of the major reasons behind the success of Pankaj Tripathi.
