Aamir Khan recently made headlines when he attended a special screening of his iconic 1999 film Sarfarosh in Mumbai. The event, commemorating 25 years since the release of the John Matthew Matthan directorial, became a platform for Khan to disclose exciting news about the much-anticipated sequel, Sarfarosh 2.
Will there be a Sarfarosh 2?
Amidst fervent speculation among fans, Aamir Khan, alongside co-stars Sonali Bendre and Naseeruddin Shah, hinted at the potential for a sequel during the celebration. The actor exclaimed, “You have just said what we all have felt in our hearts. I have been after John (John Mathew Matthan) for so many years that he should make the sequel. In the climax of Sarfarosh, we gave a hint about Sarfarosh 2 as well.”
He further affirmed, “I can commit about one thing: We will definitely give it a really serious shot now of coming up with the right script for it. So, John you will have to get to work here. Sarfarosh 2 banni chaiye (Sarfarosh 2 should be made), even I feel that.”
The desire for a sequel isn’t limited to Aamir Khan alone. Director John Matthew Matthan echoed this sentiment, expressing his eagerness to helm the project in a previous interview. However, the director described the challenges of creating a sequel that lives up to the original. Matthan explained, “We have to find the right story. Aamir is very keen on Sarfarosh 2. But unless I have the right story that suits him, I can’t. It is not that easy.”

The movie, which revolves around an Indian police officer’s battle against cross-border terrorism, earned widespread acclaim, including the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
