K-drama Wonderful World episode 1 aired on Friday, March 1, 2024, on MBC and Disney Plus. Starring Kim Nam-Joo as Eun Soo-Hyun and Cha Eun-Woo as Kwon Seon-Yul, the series revolves around a mother who seeks revenge for her son’s death.
The premiere episode begins with Soo-Hyun appearing in front of Seon-Yul’s car in the middle of the road. While she looks heartbroken but fearless, he seems unstoppable and fierce. They lock eyes and flashbacks of their multiple encounters are shown. Without blinking his eyes, he hits the accelerator and rushes his car towards Soo-Hyun.
Whether he hits her with his car or not, is not shown yet. However, it appears they have helped each other in the past on bad days. After this scene, the episode takes viewers to the beginning of Soo-Hyun’s life when her world turns upside down.

Wonderful World episode 1 introduces Kim Nam-Joo’s Soo-Hyun, a famous author with a loving family. She is married to former journalist Kang Soo-Ho (Kim Kang-Woo) and has a toddler son Kang Geon-Woo. Despite having a busy schedule, she is a doting mother.
One day, she cancels her flight after learning her son is sick. When she rushes home, Geon-Woo seems to be doing well. While he plays on their lawn, Soo-Hyun spends an emotional moment with her husband. Soon, they realize Geon-Woo is missing. They look for him for hours but fail to find him. Soo-Hyun encounters a commotion near a park and sees an ambulance carrying her son.
It appears Geon-Woo has been injured in a hit-and-run accident. At the hospital, his condition is critical, followed by the news of his death. The parents are devastated to lose their only son. As she is a popular author, the news of her child’s death becomes a hot topic in the media. Apparently, Congressman Kwon Ji-Woong’s car has hit the child. The case becomes big news after he turns himself in for the accident.
During the court hearing, Ji-Woong’s lawyer tries to blame Soo-Hyun for being a careless parent. Later, the verdict says he is not guilty, leaving Geon-Woo’s parents in shock. While Soo-Ho attacks the congressman and ends up in prison, Soo-Hyun appears cold.
Wonderful World episode 1 ending: Did Kim Nam-Joo kill her son’s murderer?
In Wonderful World K-drama episode 1 ending, it is shown that Congressman Kwon Ji-Woong has used his high-end contacts to get rid of the case. As the culprit roams free, Soo-Hyun (Kim Nam-Joo) decides to confront him.
While he is headed home from a bakery, she stops him and asks him to apologize to his late son. Ji-Woong mocks her by asking her to name her price. But Soo-Hyun keeps asking him to apologize to Geon-Woo as she tightly holds his photo. Ji-Woong pushes her to the ground to get himself out of the scuffle. He says, “Do you know how many deals I’ve lost because of your kid? He could’ve died anywhere else! Why did he have to get hit by my car?” Shocked, Soo-Hyun looks at him with disbelief as he walks away.
Kim Nam-Joo’s character gets up and gets into her car. She decides to avenge the death of her son and hits Ji-Woong with her vehicle. The aftermath of her revenge will continue in the next episode.
Meanwhile, Wonderful World episode 1 is streaming on Disney Plus. Episode 2 will air on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 9.50 p.m. on MBC.
