The Player 2: Master of Swindlers Episode 2 Recap: Did Oh Yeon-Seo Shoot Song Seung-Heon?

The Player 2: Master of Swindlers episode 2 aired on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, on tvN and Viki. Starring Oh Yeon-Seo and Song Seung-Heon, the action-crime K-drama revolves around a group of swindlers stealing money from rich people who make money illegally.

In the previous episode, Ah-Ryung (Krystal Jung) died, and her sister, Cha Jae-Yi (Jang Gyu-Ri), joined Kang Ha-Ri’s (Song Seung-Heon) team. A mysterious woman named Jung Soo-Min (Oh Yeon-So) approached Ha-Ri and gave him a new target. Towards the end of the episode, Soo-Min changes the story.

Ha-Ri attempts to scam fraudster businessman Kang Do-Young, but learns that Soo-Min has thrown the team under the bus. Episode 2 begins with Soo-Min selling Ha-Ri’s true identity to Do-Young. Instead of thanking her, the latter hands her a gun and asks her to shoot Ha-Ri to prove her loyalty. With a bit of hesitation, Soo-Min shoots Ha-Ri.

After the shooting, The Player 2: Master of Swindlers episode 2 shows fighter Jin-Woong entering the scene to save his team of swindlers. Do-Young tries to flee the scene, while Jin-Woong bashes up his men. Soo-Min helps Ha-Ri untie his hands and legs, revealing that she was putting up an act.

Meanwhile, the husband of one of Do-Young’s victims gets hold of the fraudster and aims his gun at Do-Young. Ha-Ri calms him down, but the cops arrive at the scene and handcuff the swindlers. Do-Young plays the victim and thanks the police for protecting him. When Ha-Ri and his team are taken to prison in a van, one of them complains that he should have killed Do-Young, as they are anyway going to jail. Ha-Ri raises his eyebrow and points at the driver. The person driving the van is not a cop, but Jae-Yi.

After they manage to escape, the team returns to South Korea from Pattaya, Thailand. Before arriving, Ha-Ri had made a deal with Soo-Min, who hired his team and gave them a new dangerous target. This time, the swindlers have to expose KU Entertainment CEO Kim Yun-Gi and his employee, Lee Jin-Soo. In a flashback scene, Jin-Soo forces a young girl to seduce some wealthy clients, and, in return, he promises to give her a role. But Jin-Soo spikes her drink and takes advantage of her.

Soo-Min wants Ha-Ri and his team to scam Jin-Soo and Yun-Gi. Eventually, the team manages to catch Jin-Soo red-handed.

Episode two of The Player 2: Master of Swindlers further shows Soo-Min explaining how to hand over Jin-Soo to the cops. With her suggestion, they put the culprit in the trunk of prosecutor Kwak Do-Soo’s car with a piece of evidence.

Meanwhile, Ha-Ri visits an old friend, prosecutor Kim Won-Hae (Jang In-Gyoo), from season 1. As they reminisce about their old days, Won-Jae looks concerned about the team. He says, “Hey, I don’t know if I should be saying this as a prosecutor. But you guys should stop causing trouble and live quietly abroad or something.” Ha-Ri mentions that people are not able to leave because they have regrets. Won-Hae understands that he is referring to Ah-Ryung’s death.

On the other hand, Do-Soo learns the truth about Ha-Ri. He pulls out records and discovers his connection with Won-Hae. Do-Soo rushes to Won-Hae’s office and sees Ha-Ri coming out of an elevator. The two lock eyes and Ha-Ri begins to leave. Do-Soo recognizes him and starts chasing him as Ha-Ri runs away from the prosecutor. The episode ends with Do-Soo and Ha-Ri facing each other.
