Uncle Samsik Episode 11: Song Kang-Ho & Byun Yo-Han don’t see eye to eye

The latest Uncle Samsik episode began with a flashback to when Kang Seong-Min met his uncle, Jin-Chul. The latter gave Seong-Min books to read on anarchy but was soon taken in for being a part of the independence movement. Seong-Min’s mother was devastated to find out that her husband had reported her younger brother to the police. Eventually, Seong-Min witnessed his mother’s death by suicide.

The scene shifted to the present when Seong-Min asked Uncle Samsik to help him steal the opposition party’s ballot boxes. After their conversation, Uncle Samsik met with Kim San, who advised the former against stealing the ballot boxes. Kim San further asked Uncle Samsik to help release his ex-fiancé, Yeo-Jin, from prison. Just when Yeo-Jin was questioned about her late father, Joo In-Tae, collaborating with General Choi Han-Rim, the police released her.

Yeo-Jin headed to work at the news station when she realized that there was someone behind her release and orchestrating a plan against her father. As the voting for presidential elections began, Kim San addressed a rally of supporters, assuring his ally of making the Reconstruction Bureau as planned. Soon after, Rachel visited Kim San, asking him to meet Ahn Min-Chul.

Meanwhile, Uncle Samsik plotted to steal the ballot boxes when Kim San visited. The latter once again warned Uncle Samsik against the plan. Uncle Samsik reminded Kim San of the advantages, irrespective of the presidential election results. He further informed Uncle Samsik of Rachel’s visit and how Jung Han-Min was preparing to stage the coup d’etat. Uncle Samsik continued his plan to steal ballot boxes with the help of the Dongdaemun faction’s Han-Soo.

On the voting day, Han-Min asked Kim San to meet him at the Banya Hotel. Han-Min wanted to take charge of the coup as he didn’t believe in General Choi Han-Rim’s leadership. Han-Min wanted Han-Rim to just be the face of the operation and take the fall. However, Kim San wanted to follow Uncle Samsik’s plan. Back at the Capital Defense bunker, Han-Min expressed how none of the aforementioned statements were true.

Han-Min further revealed that Kim San exploited Han-Rim and planned the coup. Meanwhile, in a conversation with Jang Doo-Sik at the bunker, Uncle Samsik revealed that Kim San was against the coup. He felt that it was Rachel and Ahn Ki-Cheol’s plan to lure Kim San into the coup. The scene shifted to when Kim San saw Han-Rim, who decided to move forward with the coup. Kim San advised Han-Rim against the coup, assuring him that the Democratic Party would come to power.

At the bunker, Han-Min revealed that Han-Rim’s name came up on the day the military declaration came about. He further stated that Kim San agreed to the coup with Han-Rim as the leader. However, Kim San expressed that it was only an emotional response. On the other hand, Uncle Samsik realized that Ahn Ki-Cheol plotted the coup with Han-Rim way before anyone had any inkling.

By the end of the episode, Jang Doo-Sik suspected Kim San of staging the couple, while Uncle Samik felt that Kim San was always against it. He thought Kim San was a pure soul, whose only goal was the Reconstruction Bureau. At the end of the episode, Kim San confessed to planning the coup and manipulating Han-Rim. Kim San revealed that he couldn’t stand seeing Han-Rim as a spy.

Furthermore, a blindfolded Uncle Samsik heard Kim San at the bunker. The two contemplated how their collaboration had gone wrong when Kim San ignored Uncle Samsik and went his own way.
