NewJeans has been confirmed to make their performance debut at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) 2023. It will be the South Korean girl group’s first performance at the US Awards show.
NewJeans is a K-pop band of five girls — Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. Under ADOR and HYBE Labels, the group released their first single in 2022. Meanwhile, they are one of the fastest-growing fourth-generation K-pop bands.
With five songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year, NewJeans is a top-nominated band at the Billboard Music Awards 2023.
Which songs will NewJeans be performing at the Billboard Music Awards 2023?
Billboard announced on Wednesday that NewJeans will make their performance debut at the upcoming BBMAs 2023. The K-pop girl group joins Peso Pluma and Bebe Rexha & David Guetta in the performers’ list.
The report further states that NewJeans will perform two of the five songs that entered the Billboard Hot 100 this year. According to the Billboard Music Awards Performer Profile video, the confirmed tracks are “Super Shy” and “OMG”.
Apart from the performance, NewJeans is also nominated under various categories. The nominations include top global K-pop artist, top Billboard global (excluding U.S.) artist, top K-pop album for album/EP Get Up, and top global K-pop song for “Ditto” and “OMG.”
This year, the band has achieved entries on the Billboard charts in various categories. NewJeans featured in the Hot 100, Hot 200, Global 200, Global (Excl. U.S.) chart, and World Digital Song Sales chart.
Besides NewsJeans Billboard Music Awards nominations, the other K-pop bands nominated at the BBMAs 2023 include TXT, TWICE, and BLACKPINK. BTS members Jimin, Jungkook, and Suga have also received nominations.
The BBMAs’ performances and awards will occur at various US locations. The event will not air on any channel but will stream across BBMAs and Billboard social channels. It will also be streamed live on the BBMAs’ official website.
The award ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
