Liam Neeson’s third big screen outing as former covert operative Bryan Mills comes home with Taken 3 while, in a similar vein, Salma Hayek fights her way out of an apartment building in Joe Lynch’s stylish revenge thriller Everly. Other recent theatrical releases include director Daniel Barnz’s Cake, which earned leading actress Jennifer Aniston a Golden Globe nomination, and Ana Lily Amirpour’s clever vampire tale, A Girl Walks Home At Night.
Scream Factory, then, debuts their Collector’s Edition of John Carpenter’s Escape From New York, which boasts quite a few brand new features, and also offers up a Ghoulies Double Feature, featuring the first two films in the comedic horror franchise.
The Criterion Collection this week upgrades Jean Renoir’s 1951 romantic drama The River to Blu-ray and delivers even more early Yasujiro Ozu works with the Eclipse set Silent Ozu: Three Crime Dramas (including Walk Cheerfully, That Night’s Wife and Dragnet Girl).
The Three Stooges finally land on Blu-ray with two Triple Feature discs. Volume One includes Time Out for Rhythm, Rockin’ in the Rockies and Have Rocket, Will Travel, while Volume Two offers The Three Stooges Meet Hercules, Three Stooges Go Around The World In A Daze and The Outlaws Is Coming.
