Unfriended, Hot Pursuit and The Knick are among the many titles hitting Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, August 11, 2015
Welcome to ComingSoon.net’s look at all the top entertainment hitting this week on Blu-ray and DVD. Check out the gallery viewer below for a look at the major new releases, catalogue titles and television collections hitting shelves on Tuesday, August 11, 2015.
The week kicks off with Hot Pursuit, Warner Bros. Pictures‘ recent big screen comedy that pairs Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon with four-time Golden Globe nominee Sofia Vergara. Also arriving this week from a recent theatrical run is Universal Pictures’ stylish thriller, Unfriended, which takes place entirely within a computer monitor, weaving its narrative across video chat sessions and other forms of modern social media.
It was nearly 18 years ago that the world lost Chris Farley and the late comedian’s story is lovingly told in the new documentary I Am Chris Farley, boasting interviews with Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Christina Applegate and many more.
Scream Factory this week offers a special edition of Wes Craven’s 1991 tale of terror, The People Under the Stairs, while The Criterion Collection debuts Karel Reisz’s 1981 drama The French Lieutenant’s Woman, starring Jeremy Irons and Meryl Streep. Hitting DVD only, meanwhile, is the Criterion Eclipse set Agnes Varda in California, which includes the films Uncle Yanco (1967), Black Panthers (1968), Lions Love (…and Lies) (1969), Mur Murs (1980) and Documenteur (1981).
On the small screen front, we’re getting the recent BBC telefilm adaptation of Susanna Clarke’s Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, the first season of Steven Soderbergh’s turn-of-the-century medical drama The Knick and fourth seasons sets for AMC’s Hell on Wheels, CBS’ Person of Interest and, on DVD only, ABC’s Scandal.
