As AGC Studios successfully landed the film rights to the life story of Lauren Simmons, Variety reports that actress Kiersey Clemons has signed on to portray the role of the brilliant Wall Street trader in the studios’ forthcoming biographical film. Clemons will also serve as the film’s producer.
The biopic will tell the inspiring life of 23-year old Simmons, who made history as the youngest woman to ever be on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, and only the second African American female to trade full-time. Simmons moved to New York right after she graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2016 with a degree in genetics and a minor in statistics.
At first, she wanted to pursue a career in medicine but soon, she realized that it wasn’t what she really wanted do. Before getting the job at the NYSE, she had to take a difficult Series 19 exam with no formal background and only one month to prepare. Due to Simmon’s determination and hard work, she fortunately passed the exam.
