Production Begins On LeBron James’ Space Jam 2
Three-time Finals MVP winner LeBron James took to Twitter to share his excitement for starring in Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming Space Jam 2 as production officially begins on the highly-anticipated sequel, which is scheduled for 2021 release.
Man this really just hit me! I’m really shooting Space Jam 2!! This is so surreal and doesn’t even make sense to me! Where I come from man and what I saw growing up this doesn’t add up to me! ! I’m truly grateful and beyond blessed. This is CRAZINESS.

Space Jam 2 will star LeBron James instead of Michael Jordan with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler onboard to produce. Terence Nance (Random Acts of Flyness, The Oversimplification of Her Beauty) is set to direct instead of Justin Lin (Fast & Furious franchise), who was one of the directors originally attached to the project.
Though the long-awaited sequel won’t feature Steph Curry, Kevin Durant or James Harden, the film has landed an impressive roster so far with the Portland Trailblazers’ Damian Lillard, New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis, and Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson. Also joining the squad are Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi and Los Angeles Sparks’ siblings Chiney and Nneka Ogwumike, with Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) set to portray James’ wife.
