As a result, Fast and Furious 9 will be getting a May 2020 release with Justin Lin returning to directing in the franchise, after helming Fast and Furious parts 3 through 6. Dan Casey will pen the screenplay from a story by Lin.

Fast & Furious 9 stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Nathalie Emmanuel, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris.

While the upcoming ninth film in the franchise won’t feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as he’s busy with first spinoff, Hobbs & Shawthis one will feature John Cena. So, call it an even trade.

Production on Fast and Furious 9 is currently underway, and is due out in theaters on May 22, 2020.
