Neil Marshall Plans Troll Hunter Remake

Plans for an American take on André Øvredal’s 2010 Troll Hunter have been in the works since 2011 when Christopher Columbus secured the film rights. Today, Deadline reports that Neil Marshall (The Descent, Doomsday) will both write and direct with an early 2014 shoot being targeted.

Marc Haimes previously drafted the script for the film, which purports to be footage found from a documentary being made by a group of students who are tracking a mysterious hunter who they learn is ridding the countryside of giant rogue trolls.

Columbus will produce the film with 1492’s Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe and CJ Entertainment. Original producers John M. Jacobsen and Sveinung Golimo will also be involved.
