The Guilty: Jake Gyllenhaal & Antoine Fuqua Reteam for Thriller Film

According to Deadline, Southpaw’s Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) and Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) are reteaming for a new thriller titled The Guilty, with Gyllenhaal set to star and Fuqua directing. The movie is based on the Danish drama Den Skyldige directed by Gustav Moller.

The Guilty takes place over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center. Call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) tries to save a caller in grave danger — but he soon discovers that nothing is at it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.

“I couldn’t be more excited to work with Antoine again. Our time together on Southpaw was one of the great artistic experiences of my career, and I cannot wait to be back on set with him again. The Guilty is a special story, and one that we all feel very close to,” said Gyllenhaal.

The screenplay is written by Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective). Gyllenhaal will produce along with his Nine Stories partner Riva Marker as well as Fuqua through his Fuqua Films. Producers also include Scott Greenberg, Michel Litvak, and Gary Michael Walters for Bold Films. Annie Marter, Gustav Moller, and Lina Flint will executive produce.
