Acclaimed director John Carpenter once again threw his hat into the ring for video game movies, saying he would love to direct an adaptation of Dead Space.

In a recent interview with The A.V. Club, Carpenter was shocked to find out that a series based on The Last of Us was coming out, and was asked if he had ever thought about adapting a game into something. Carpenter said that there’s only one he could think of ever trying and that it was Dead Space.
“The only one I can think of, and I’ve mentioned it before, is Dead Space. That would make a real great movie. I could do that.” Carpenter said. He was also asked which of the games was his favorite, to which he said “any of them,” including the third and final game. “I even like the last one, the action one that nobody else liked,” said Carpenter.
This isn’t the first time that Carpenter has spoken about wanting to adapt Dead Space into a film. Nearly a full decade ago, in 2013, he also expressed the idea that the game would make a great film, telling Game Informer magazine “I maintain that Dead Space would just make a great movie because you have these people coming onto an abandoned, shut-down space ship and they have to start it up and something’s on board. It’s just great stuff.”
