Amazon MGM Studios are locking down a star-studded cast for its upcoming comedy movie Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie, which will star Hugh Jackman, Emma Thompson, and more.

Alongside Jackman and Thompson, the upcoming comedy will also feature Nicholas Braun (Succession), Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea of You), Molly Gordon (The Bear), Hong Chau (The Whale), Tosin Cole (Supacell), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Wonka), Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones), and Mandeep Dhillon (Avoidance).

The film will be directed by Kyle Balda, who is best known for his animation work. Balda directed the original Minions movie in 2015, as well as Despicable Me 3 and 2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru. Craig Mazin (The Last of Us) is attached as writer.

What is Three Bags Full about?

The movie is an adaptation of Leonie Swann’s bestselling book Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Story, and will follow the story of George Hardy (Jackman), a “shepherd who loves his sheep and raises them only for their wool. Every night he reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand, never suspecting that not only can they understand but they argue for hours afterwards about whodunnit.

“When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it,” according to the film’s synopsis.

Currently, Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie is slated to release in theaters on February 20, 2026.
