The dystopian love story is the first co-production between Megan Ellison’s Annapurna and Vice and it’s described as a cross between Pretty in Pink and The Road Warrior set in a Texas wasteland where a community of cannibals resides.
Momoa is in talks to plays one of the main cannibals.
Although Momoa has retained a high profile since starring in the first season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” playing Conan the Barbarian in Lionsgate’s failed attempt at a remake, he was also signed to play the first big screen take on Aquaman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will lead to a recurring role in two Justice League movies and his own solo Aquaman film in 2018. Momoa can currently be seen in the Sundance Channel series “The Red Road.”
Megan Ellison will produce The Bad Batch alongside Vice’s Danny Gabai and Sina Sayyah, the first time the companies will be producing a project together with Vice’s Shane Smith and Eddy Moretti executive producing along with Annapurna’s Sammy Scher.
