USA Today debuted these five new images from Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows which will have its trailer premiere tonight on “Entertainment Tonight” and I expect we’ll have an official online version no later than midday tomorrow.
The above image is our first look at Jared Harris (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) as Moriarty, a character we only saw speaking from the shadows to Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler in the first film. Obviously, in this follow-up he has a much more hands on approach to the story.
The new film is the sequel to the 2009 Guy Ritchie-directed adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous characters starring Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes and Jude Law as his faithful sidekick Watson. In Sherlock Holmes 2 the story follows Holmes, and his longtime trusted associate, Dr. Watson, as they match wits with their arch-nemesis, the criminal genius Moriarty (Harris). Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) plays the rifle-toting gypsy Sim and Stephen Fry (V for Vendetta) stars as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft Holmes.
