Paul Walker documentary in development
Paramount Network has announced the development of a documentary detailing the life of Paul Walker. I Am Paul Walker will stream on the Paramount Network platform this summer and will be helmed by producer Derik Murray. There have been a number of retrospective pieces Murray has released within the past few years which follow the lives and untimely deaths of beloved public figures, including I Am Heath Ledger, I Am Chris Farley and I Am Bruce Lee. The upcoming I Am MLK Jr. is set to debut on Paramount Network on April 2nd.
The director of the Ledger doc, Adrian Buitenhuis, is set to direct Walker’s which Deadline reports “will feature interviews with many of Walker’s cast mates as well as friends who knew him best, the producers say. The film will explore Walker’s prolific film career and also showcase, among other things, the actor’s passion for the world’s oceans and marine life and his work to help rebuild Haiti after the devastating earthquake.”
Walker tragically passed in a car accident at the age of 40 in November 2013. He is best known for his lead performance in The Fast and the Furious franchise as well as his philanthropic work, including his aforementioned contribution to the relief fund in Haiti and his immense passion for the ocean. His daughter, Meadow, was 15 years old when he passed and she launched The Paul Walker Foundation shortly after his death to keep his passion alive by supporting the fight to protect oceans and wildlife.
Jon Slusser and Jaimee Kosanke will serve as executive producers on the upcoming doc, which is certain to cause fans to tear up as they learn more about the admired actor.
