The official trailer has arrived for Roxanne Benjamin’s upcoming horror film Body At Brighton Rock, which premiered at South by Southwest Film Festival and will hit theaters on April 25. Check it out in the player below!
Wendy, a part-time summer employee at a mountainous state park, takes on a rough trail assignment at the end of the season, trying to prove to her friends that she’s capable enough to do the job. When she takes a wrong turn and ends up deep in the backcountry, she stumbles upon what might be a potential crime scene. Stuck with no communication after losing her radio and with orders to guard the site, Wendy must fight the urge to run and do the harder job of staying put — spending the night deep in the wilderness, facing down her worst fears and proving to everyone – including herself – that she’s made of stronger stuff than they think she is.
Body At Brighton Rock will serve as Benjamin’s solo directorial debut. Her credits to date are co-writing and co-directing roles in Southbound (2015) as well as XX (2017). She is also penning the screenplay for the upcoming remake of the campy 1984 cult film Night of the Comet.
In the central role of Wendy is relative newcomer Karina Fontes, who made her feature film debut in the aforementioned Southbound. The film also stars Casey Adams (Blindspotting), Emily Althaus (Orange is the New Black) and Miranda Bailey (Diary of a Teenage Girl), but Fontes is likely to get the bulk of screentime in this earthy thriller.
