A24 has released the official trailer for Mike Mills’ upcoming black-and-white drama film titled C’mon C’mon, starring Academy Award winner Joaquin Phoenix. The film had its world premiere last week at the 2021 Telluride Film Festival. It is currently slated to arrive in theaters sometime in November.
The C’mon C’mon trailer, which you can check out below, begins with a bedtime story narration from Phoenix’s character, Johnny. It also highlights the unexpected bond that will form between Johnny and his nephew as they go on a cross-country adventure.

C’mon C’mon is written and directed by Mike Mills, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker behind 2016’s 20th Century Women. The film is being led by Joaquin Phoenix (Her, Joker), and newcomer Woody Norman. Joining them are Gaby Hoffman, Molly Webster, Jaboukie Young-White, and Scoot McNairy.
“In the film, Phoenix stars as Johnny, a documentary filmmaker whose latest project has him interviewing children across the U.S. about the state of affairs in the world,” reads the synopsis (via Deadline). “He forges a tenuous but transformational relationship with his 8-year-old nephew Jesse (Woody Norman), who he ends up taking on his travels from Los Angeles to New York to New Orleans.”

The upcoming drama film marks Phoenix’s first project since his acclaimed leading performance in 2019’s Joker which earned him his second Golden Globe Award and his first Oscar Award, both for Best Actor. He is currently in production for another A24 project titled Disappointment Blvd. with director Ari Aster.
