20th Century Studios has dropped a brand new trailer for the upcoming coming-of-age animated film Ron’s Gone Wrong, starring Zach Galifianakis (Missing Link) and Jack Dylan Grazer (Luca). The film is currently scheduled to make its debut in theaters on Friday, October 22, which pits it against three highly-anticipated ensemble films in the form of Dune, The French Dispatch, and The Harder They Fall.
The new Ron’s Gone Wrong trailer, which you can check out below along with the new poster, features a middle-schooler named Barney as he finally gets the B-Bot that he’s been dreaming of. However, his ticket to finally having a social life turns out to be defective as Ron, his new best friend, causes him unintentional dilemmas due to missing codes.

Ron’s Gone Wrong will feature a touching and hilarious look at the budding friendship between a middle-school boy and his faulty robot. The animated comedy-adventure will feature an all-star voice cast including, Zach Galifianakis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Olivia Colman, Ed Helms, Justice Smith, Rob Delaney, Kylie Cantrall, Ricardo Hurtado, Marcus Scribner, and Thomas Barbusca.
“The film tells the story of Barney, a socially awkward middle-schooler and Ron, his new walking, talking, digitally-connected device, which is supposed to be his “Best Friend Out of the Box,” reads the official synopsis. “Ron’s hilarious malfunctions, set against the backdrop of the social media age, launch them into an action-packed journey in which boy and robot come to terms with the wonderful messiness of true friendship.”

Ron’s Gone Wrong is directed by Pixar veteran Jean-Philippe Vine (Cars 3, The Good Dinosaur), Locksmith co-founder Sarah Smith, and Octavio Rodriguez (Coco) from a script written by Smith and Peter Baynham. This marks the first theatrical release from the U.K.-based CG animation studio Locksmith Animation. Executive producers are Smith, Baynham, and Elisabeth Murdoch, with Julie Lockhart and Lara Breay set as producers.
