Rocky IV Ultimate Director’s Cut Trailer Sets One-Night Theatrical Release

MGM has finally released the official trailer for Rocky IV‘s upcoming ultimate director’s cut, which has been retitled as Rocky IV: Rocky vs. Drago. The iconic 1985 sports drama film will officially make its way back to theaters on Thursday, November 11 for one night only, followed by its digital release on November 12.  You can check now purchase tickets through Fathom Events by clicking here.

The new version of the sequel is expected to feature 40 minutes of never-before-seen footage. Fans who are planning to attend the one-night theatrical event will also be treated to an introduction and Q&A with franchise star, writer, and director Sylvester Stallone.

Rocky IV continued to follow Rocky Balboa as he challenges Soviet Union boxer Ivan Drago into an exhibition match in order to avenge former enemy-turned-close friend Apollo Creed, who was killed during his match with Drago. The film is probably the blockbuster franchise’ most important installment as it became a benchmark for its current spin-offs Creed and Creed II, which now centers around Apollo’s son Adonis, portrayed by Michael B. Jordan, who is set to make his directorial debut with the forthcoming Creed III.

The film also starred Dolph Lundgren, Carl Weathers, Brigitte Nielsen, Burt Young, Talia Shire, Tony Burton, and Michael Pataki. Even though it received mixed reviews, it was still a huge box office success, with a worldwide gross of over $300 million.

Stallone initially wanted to release Rocky IV: Rocky vs. Drago last year in celebration of its 35th anniversary. However, it was ultimately delayed because the new version wasn’t finished yet at the time. Last April, the Oscar-nominated actor had finally announced its completion.
