With Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm‘s latest chapter in the Star Wars saga coming home next month, Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has shared a behind-the-scenes look at what went into bringing her alien character, Maz Kanata, to life. Check it out in the player below!

Directed by J.J. Abrams, written by Lawrence Kasdan & J.J. Abrams and Michael Arndt, and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was named one of AFI’s top ten films of 2015 and received five Academy Award nominations, for film editing, visual effects, sound editing, sound mixing, and for series composer John Williams’ original score.

The film shattered box office records upon its debut and has grossed over $930 million domestic and $2.05 billion worldwide.

On the big screen, the Star Wars saga is set to continue December 15, 2017 with director Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII continuing after the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Later this year, however, we’ll get our first Star Wars Story film, Rogue One. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the new adventure details events just prior to Star Wars: A New Hope. Look for it to take flight on December 16, 2016.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available digitally on Friday, April 1 and will arrive on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD the following Tuesday, April 5. Click here for a full list of special features and for a preview of various retailer exclusives.
