Daniel Clowes’ graphic novel comes to life in Fox Searchlight’s Wilson movie
With the film set to debut at the Sundance Film Festival this Sunday, January 22, Fox Searchlight Pictures has released a few videos tied to the upcoming Wilson movie. Based on Daniel Clowes‘ acclaimed graphic novel of the same name, Wilsonhits theaters March 24. In the top player below, you can check out the new Wilson movie trailer. Underneath that is a first clip from the film, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies. Then, in the bottom player, you’ll find a special motion poster for the film.
The Wilson movie stars Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games, War for the Planet of the Apes) in the title role, a lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged misanthrope who reunites with his estranged wife (Laura Dern) and gets a shot at happiness when he learns he has a teenage daughter (Isabella Amara) he has never met. In his uniquely outrageous and slightly twisted way, he sets out to connect with her. Judy Greer (Archer, Ant-Man) and Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Son of Zorn) co-star.
The screenplay was adapted by Clowes himself. The artist previously adapted his own graphic novel Ghost World for the 2001 film adaptation directed by Terry Zwigoff and starring Thora Birch, Scarlett Johansson and Steve Buscemi. Clowes’ other major big screen credit is as a writer for 2006’s Art School Confidential, also helmed by Zwigoff.
