Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her now-estranged husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, tied the knot in 2022 while she was still in prison. Gypsy, for her role in her mother Dee Dee Blanchard’s killing, had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was serving a 10-year sentence. Gypsy’s prison release came in December 2023 after serving less than eight years of the term. Meanwhile, her former boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, received life in prison for fatally stabbing Dee Dee.

Reportedly, Gypsy Rose and Ryan Anderson connected after he sent her a letter in 2020. By May of that year, the duo had started exchanging emails back and forth. Their first in-person meeting took place in July 2021. The couple finally got their marriage license in Chillicothe, Missouri, on June 27, 2022, and tied the know a month later. Anderson married Gypsy in a small jailhouse ceremony on July 21. There were no guests present to witness their marriage.

After Gypsy’s release on December 28, 2023, she and Anderson “got to consummate their marriage,” which they revealed in Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up. A few months later, the couple announced their split, and Gypsy officially filed for divorce in April 2024. Gypsy Rose Blanchard is now with her new boyfriend Ken Urker, who was once her fiancé.

Where is Gypsy Rose’s estranged husband Ryan Anderson from?

According to People Magazine, Gypsy Rose’s now-estranged husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, is from Lake Charles, Louisiana. Anderson is a middle school special education teacher. He claimed that he first connected with Gypsy at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Anderson stated that he had fewer clients than usual at the time and revealed that the conversation about Gypsy had come up with one of his co-workers. Soon after, he wrote to her, and the rest was history.

Gypsy Rose told the outlet in 2023 that she and her husband Ryan Anderson “plan on having a reception/redo wedding.” The couple wanted to have a second ceremony “with all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that.”

Lifetime’s Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up comprises clips of Anderson heading to the Chillicothe Correctional Center on December 28 to pick up Gypsy. The couple revealed that they spent the night in a hotel room where they “got to consummate their marriage.” Anderson described the night as “great” because “we got to love on each other.”

Following Gypsy’s release, Anderson had also expressed concern about being in the spotlight. He said, “It’s going to be a whirlwind and there’ll be a lot of attention. I’m still very nervous about that.” He claimed to be “a very private person” but revealed that he and Gypsy had a plan to tackle the spotlight. The plan was to “check on each other and see how we’re doing” every night.

Gypsy Rose and her now-estranged husband announced their separation in March 2024, three months after her release. Within days, Gypsy filed for divorce and a restraining order, which she later claimed was based on finances. According to In Touch, a source revealed “they’d made a mistake getting married” as a possible cause for their divorce. They “didn’t really know each other well enough and she’d rather be single,” claimed the source.

After separating from her husband, Gypsy Rose began seeing her new boyfriend, Ken Urker. Reportedly, Urker and Gypsy were once engaged while she was in prison. However, the duo parted ways sometime around 2019 but remained friends. The former convict revealed that Urker was not the reason for her and Ryan Scott Anderson’s split, as reported by US Weekly.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, is appearing in Lifetime’s documentary series along with her estranged husband. Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up chronicles her present life following prison release. Episodes of the limited series air every Monday.
