In the previous episode of The CW’s Charmed, the Harbinger awakened in a woman in a hospital bed, presumably Angela Wu. Charmed Season1 Episode 3 followed the Charmed Ones as they tracked down the Harbinger’s vessel.
Simulations
Harry had the sisters running simulations of binding the Harbinger. The most recent one ended because Mel used a spell that would have hurt her sisters as well. Harry put a magical tracker on her that would alert him whenever Mel used magic. Mel wasn’t the only problem though. Macy was having trouble controlling her powers, and Maggie was torn between her magic and sorority duties.
The Vessel
While the Charmed Ones’ duty was to vanquish the Harbinger, it was the Elders’ duty to locate its vessel. But Mel had other ideas. She considered a spell that would attract every demon in a twenty-mile radius, but Macy had another thought. Since they knew the Harbinger goo contained sulfuric acid, sugar would cause a violent reaction. Macy developed a Halloween cookie that the girls could pass out on campus to eliminate vessel candidates.
When Mel heard that Angela was awake, she paid her a visit, as she was a likely suspect. Angela seemed to eat the cookie and come out unscathed, but she was clearly the Harbinger when she pulled the cookie straight out of her throat after Mel left.
Glamours
Maggie’s standing with the sorority was shaky. She had missed events, and Lucy and the other sisters were questioning her commitment. Maggie volunteered to host the Halloween party at her house to help them get around the on-campus alcohol ban. She used glamours to take the Halloween decorations to the next level. The party was a hit, and she crossed paths with Parker, a guy she liked who had saved her from a difficult customer. The hitch was that Parker was Lucy’s boyfriend.
Lux Veritas
The Charmed Ones realized the Harbinger was drinking virgin blood. Macy used her own blood to lure the Harbinger to the woods, away from the party. The binding spell had to be perfect since they only had one shot. Unfortunately, the glamour Maggie had on for her costume knocked her out in a key moment of the spell. The Harbinger got away, and Mel used the same spell she used in the simulation to stop it. It hit Macy, who wasn’t breathing. Harry was able to bring her back, but the scare hit Mel hard. She promised to not be so reckless, and Harry removed the tracker.
Harry brought the bound Harbinger back to the Vera house and magically chained it up in the attic. He charged them with watching it until the Elders arrived.
