In the previous episode of The Good Place, Shaun and other demons invaded Earth and forced Janet to transport the group into her void, bringing their lives on Earth to an end. What does this installment have in store? Let’s find out as we recap The Good Place season 3 episode 9 ‘Janet(s)!’
Different Appearances
Michael appeared in Janet’s void and was in perfect condition. Sadly, all of the humans had been transformed into replicas of Janet. Janet quickly redressed the humans in clothing befitting their identities. Michael was going to take Janet to the Janet warehouse and find their way to the Accountant. The four humans were left in the void, as they were now fugitives from the afterlife. Eleanor managed to use her new-found Janet powers to summon a puppy for Chidi, but Janet quickly re-appeared and told them not to use their Janet powers. Michael and Janet were welcomed into the accounting building and attempted to assert their belief that the Bad Place was manipulating the point totals.
Accounting For Trouble
Eleanor and Chidi got into a discussion about which Chidi Eleanor had fallen in love with. Eleanor tried to get rid of the puppy, but accidentally summoned many more dogs into the void. The Accountant gave Michael and Janet a tour of the system and assured them that tampering was impossible. Back in the void, Chidi summoned a classroom and instructed everyone on the nature of identity and the self. Michael asked to see the file on Doug Forsett. Michael learned that Doug was nowhere near having enough points to get into the Good Place. He asked to see the file of someone who had recently gotten into the Good Place and the Accountant revealed that no one had gotten in in the last 500 years. Janet began to fall apart as the stress of having four people in her void was becoming too much.
Changing Existence
The void began to crack, and Tahani began to explore the edges of the void. She found a search engine for Janet’s memories and she found out about Janet’s love for Jason. Back in accounting, Michael was convinced by Janet to lead a revolution to change the afterlife system. Janet asked to be marbleized in order to save the humans within her void, but Chidi convinced Eleanor that he did love her, which stopped the dissolution of the void. The humans were expelled from Janet’s void as they had regained their identities and immediately set off the fugitive alarm in accounting. Michael told the humans the sad state of the afterlife system and led the humans to the transportation room. He sent all of the humans to the Good Place and they arrived safely. The group was relieved to find out that they had gained access to the true Good Place.
