Krypton Season 2 Episode 2 opens with a pair of Sagitari skimmers sweeping the Outlands, following a lead. One of the pilots detects something, but as they close in, that something disappears. Suddenly, one of the skimmers goes down. Doomsday jumps from the crashing skimmer to the other, smashing through the cockpit.
House of Zod
Lyta tells Zod that Doomsday killed the pilots. Zod shrugs it off as Sagitari doing their duty. Lyta insists that the casualty rate is too high, particularly on Wegthor, where untrained Rankless conscripts are used as cannon fodder in the war against the resistance. Lyta asks to go to Wegthor and train the soldiers there. Zod agrees that Lyta is an excellent teacher, but he’s not sending her to Wegthor. He needs her close, in Kandor, training the new recruits. His plan for Wegthor is already in motion.
Lyta continues to mourn Seg. One of the new recruits is from the same sector that Seg was from and bears a resemblance to Seg. The recruit tries to kiss Lyta, but she beats the recruit, who she realizes is nothing like Seg at all. Lyta confides in Zod that while he looks across Kandor and sees progress, all she can see is what she’s lost. Zod tries to bring Lyta out of her grief by giving her Cor to raise as her own. Seg’s sacrifice lives on in Cor, in Zod, and in Lyta.
Meanwhile, Jayna wanders the Outlands with her brother, who she abandoned in the cold as part of her training. She apologizes for not coming back for him. What she did to him is mirrored in how Lyta left Jayna. Jayna vows to her brother that she’s going to break the cycle. But, her brother was never really there. It was his memory that she walked with all along. Jayna returns to civilization as Sagitari come looking for her to arrest Jayna as a traitor. Jayna fights them off and is aided by Dev.
The Resistance
Nyssa is escorted to Wegthor and told to hike to the resistance camp. There, she tells Val and Jax what has transpired, including that she is supposed to be Zod’s spy in order to get Cor back. She provides the resistance with information about a supply movement, which turns out to be legitimate intel and a win for the resistance troops who are running low on resources. Nyssa contacts Zod and tells him that the intel helped, but that the resistance still doesn’t fully trust her. Zod orders Nyssa to find the codex that Jax stole when Brainiac attacked the city.
The Hunt for Brainiac
Seg and Adam awaken chained together to a tree. Lobo doesn’t want them, he is after Brainiac, who bottled Lobo’s home city and destroyed the planet. Seg agrees to take Lobo to Brainiac’s body in exchange for being released. The trio make their way to the corpse, but Lobo’s device indicates that Brainiac isn’t there. Brainiac is inside of Seg. Lobo tries to cut Brainiac out of Seg, but Adam blasts a hole in Lobo’s abdomen, which will take a little time to heal with Lobo’s enhanced healing factor.
As Seg and Adam run, Seg states that he doesn’t know how Brainiac got inside his head. Adam says that all they need to do is get to the zeta beam device that Lobo took from him and they can get to Val, who’ll know what to do. Seg says that he can’t bring Brainiac to Krypton. He’s losing the fight for control and Brainiac will have full control of Seg’s body in only a couple of hours. If they can’t figure out how to get Brainiac out before he takes over, Seg makes Adam promise to kill him.
