Apple Officially Renews The Morning Show, See, Dickinson & For All Mankind

Just under a week after debuting the streaming service, Apple has granted official renewals to four of its original series, The Morning Show, See, Dickinson and For All Mankind, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While second seasons had reportedly been ordered for all the series minus See, the streaming service has granted them official greenlights for future chapters, just in time for production to commence for the majority of the shows whose future seasons are already planned out.

Starring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard and created by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), See is a high concept series that takes place in a future where humanity has lost the ability to perceive the world with sight. It follows the story of fearless leader Baba Voss, the father of twins born centuries later with the mythic ability to see—who must protect his tribe against a powerful yet desperate queen who believes it’s witchcraft and wants them destroyed.

While critics have praised its intriguing concept and the performances of its cast, it has received generally mixed reviews for its reliance on gore and convoluted storytelling, though it has received more positive reviews from audiences.

Starring Steve Carell, Jennifer Aniston, and Reese Witherspoon, Apple’s drama The Morning Show follows the lies of the people who wake up before dawn and deliver the morning talk shows on TV. The series was inspired by journalist Brain Stelter’s novel, Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV. The series comes from The Front Runner‘s Jay Carson and has received mixed to positive reviews from critics thus far, most of whom praise the performances of Aniston and Witherspoon.

For All Mankind, starring Joel Kinnaman, explores what would have happened if the global space race never ended. The drama presents an aspirational world where NASA astronauts, engineers, and their families find themselves in the center of extraordinary events seen through the prism of an alternate history timeline — a world in which the USSR beats the US to the moon. The series is receiving more positive reviews than its fellow programs, with praise aimed towards its innovative plot of an alternate history.

Starring Hailee Steinfeld as the titular rebel, the series is set during Emily Dickinson’s era with a modern sensibility and tone. It takes viewers into the world of Emily, audaciously exploring the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of a budding writer who doesn’t fit into her own time through her imaginative point of view. Dickinson is Emily’s coming-of-age story — one woman’s fight to get her voice heard. Like Mankind, the period dramedy is also receiving more positive reviews from critics and audiences for its blend of millennial existentialism and period drama, as well as Steinfeld’s performance.
