Showtime has officially given a series order to Andrew Hinderaker’s upcoming series adaptation of Let The Right One In, based on the Swedish romantic horror drama novel and film of the same name. The project will be led by Oscar nominee Demián Bichir, who is set to portray the role of Mark, a father to a young vampire daughter. Production is expected to begin early next year in New York City.

Showtime’s Let The Right One In is described as an elevated genre drama set to upend expectations, turning a naturalistic lens on human frailty, strength, and compassion. Joining Bichir in the 10-episode series are Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls, Power), Grace Gummer (Mr. Robot), Madison Taylor Baez (Selena: The Series), Kevin Carroll (Snowfall), Ian Foreman (Merry Wish-Mas), and Jacob Buster (Colony).
“Inspired by the original hit Swedish novel and film, the series centers on Mark (Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor (Baez) whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire,” reads the synopsis. “Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive.”

Let The Right One In is executive produced by Andrew Hinderaker (Away, Penny Dreadful), who will also serve as showrunner. He wrote the pilot which was directed by Seith Mann, who is also set to helm additional episodes. Executive producers are Mann, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner, with Bichir also serving as a producer. It is a production by Tomorrow Studios.
This isn’t the first time that John Ajvide Lindqvist’s 2004 novel received an English remake as Matt Reeves previously adapted the romantic horror drama into the 2010 film titled Let Me In, which starred Chloe Grace Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
