According to a recent report from Variety, both Lowes will star in the series and will also be listed as co-creators alongside Fresco. All three are also attached as executive producers.
The series will reportedly be set in a “cutting-edge biotech research company,” and follow the socially challenged, introverted son who goes to work for his wildly eccentric father in an effort to save him from disaster. The report notes that the series is partially inspired by Rob and John Owen’s real-life social media interactions, which often sees John Owen trolling his father on various platforms.
“We are very excited to be working with Victor, Rob and John Owen,” said Tracey Pakosta, Netflix’s head of comedy. “The three of them – and their wildly funny, smart sensibilities – are a perfect fit for our growing slate of scripted comedies.”
Rob Lowe currently stars in the Fox drama series 9-1-1: Lone Star, but has been a mainstay in the world of television, including hit roles in Parks and Recreation, The West Wing, and Brothers & Sisters. His son, John Owen, has some acting credits alongside his father, including in the Fox comedy The Grinder and the Netflix film Holiday in the Wind. He’s also credited as a writer on several episodes of 9-1-1: Lone Star.
