Over a year after The Continental: From the World of John Wick ended, an update on its Season 2 has finally arrived. Speaking about the future of the John Wick franchise on TV, The Continental producer Basil Iwanyk recently spoke about the possibility of the prequel show’s second season.
Basil Iwanyk talks The Continental Season 2 possibilities within the John Wick universe
Promoting John Wick’s 10th anniversary, Iwanyk confirmed initial talks about The Continental Season 2. However, he also claimed that the current focus is on projects that would expand the pre-established world of John Wick in the present day.
While talking to The Direct‘s Russ Milheim, Iwanyk said:
“I think we were happy with season one. I think that we talked a little bit about season two. But I think the feeling is, if we’re going to have something on television in the John Wick universe, this Robert Levine version that we went out with, that we’re negotiating with somebody, is probably the better option for the John Wick content in the TV world.”
He continued:
“So, I loved making [The Continental]. I love[d] the 70s of [it][. I loved Albert Hughes. Everything about it. I think it was a really cool, crazy idea for it. I think now we want to put together something that is going to inform more of what the future of the franchise is going to be, yeah.”
Set in the 70s, The Continental told the story of a young Winston Scott, played by Colin Woodell. But as per Iwanyk’s comment, fans should expect other projects instead of The Continental Season 2.
Those spin-offs include the John Wick: Under the High Table series and Ana de Armas’ Ballerina movie. Despite the ending of John Wick 4, Chapter 5 is still anticipated by many fans. But, whether Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski would unite sooner or later remains to be seen.
